Problem of the Week

Updated at Jun 26, 2023 5:58 PM

This week we have another algebra problem:

How would you find the factors of \(5{t}^{2}-36t+36\)?

Let's start!

\[5{t}^{2}-36t+36\]

1
Split the second term in \(5{t}^{2}-36t+36\) into two terms.
\[5{t}^{2}-6t-30t+36\]

2
Factor out common terms in the first two terms, then in the last two terms.
\[t(5t-6)-6(5t-6)\]

3
Factor out the common term \(5t-6\).
\[(5t-6)(t-6)\]
